Self-fulfilling objectification in relationships: The effects of men’s objectifying expectations on women’s self-objectification during conflict in romantic relationships

How women view themselves and the amount they objectify of themselves, is shaped by how they are objectified by the people in their lives. In the current study, it was found that men who focused on the appearance of their partner did not report objectifying their partner more than men who focused more on their partner’s personality. However, women whose partner focused on her appeared reported objectifying herself more than women whose partner focused on her personality.
